I am sorry that you are not feeling good. I do not think that you got the bug at the ER as it takes longer than that to incubate a germ in your system. More than likely you came in contact with it about 2 weeks ago. Even if you did not touch or were in close proximately to someone sneezing when you caught it. You could have picked it up off of any hard surface that the other person touched. Grocery carts are notorious for carrying germs.

Good morning,

I hope everyone is well.

Dave, I understand not wanting to spend money on clothes, but wearing  clothes that are too big looks silly after a point and seems to send the message that you don't love yourself and are trying to hide behind the clothes that are too big.

I would rather buy a couple of things that fit and do laundry more often.  Of course, I don't have that issue, as I saved the clothes I had bought when I had lost weight a few years ago.  I have both summer and winter clothes in smaller sizes.  The only thing I have to buy is smaller undies.  I am trying not to invest too much money in those, either.  I would try Wal-Mart or a resale shop for better fitting things.

We have one full week of school and then a week off for Spring Break.  My DH loaded up my car with boxes and styrofoam to throw away today.  I stopped at a Waste-Management facility and emptied out my car.  It is on my way to and from work, so that is handy.  This is a combination of water-damaged stuff and things that take up too much room to save for whenever we will have to move out of our house.

We stopped at Aldi yesterday.  We drove out toward Plano and back home.  Not for any special reason.  Just to enjoy the day.

I wish you all well.

Good morning and nice to see you again Dave!  Hello to everyone in Illinois!

I am back at work this morning after a great weekend.  We went to the St. Patrick's party at my brother's club and had a blast!  They had these cute little hats and when I put one on, everyone told me I looked like a leprechan, being the shortest person in the room.  I'm pretty sure that would not have happened 3 years ago.

When we came out to head home yesterday morning, we had a flat tire.  Being Sunday, there was no place open to fix it, so we had to ride home on the "donut".  We made it safely and Todd will get the tire fixed today.

We stopped at Lone Star Steak House on the way home and they have a new appetizer that was just the right size for me.  It is "Crab Topped Shrimp Scampi".  There were 5 grilled shrimp covered with a (small) bit of crab meat, bread crumbs and parmesan cheese.  I ate the crab, shrimp and broiled bits of cheese and left most of the crumbs.  That and about half a side salad was a great meal.

Tonight is the Rockford support group where I am looking forward to seeing everyone.  Please come and join us if you are able!

Everyone have a delightful day and tell someone that you love them.

Good Moring Dave!  I am the exact opposite of you...I have to stop myself from buying new clothes...part of it is though that I can't have my pants falling down in front of a bunch of 3rd graders while I am talking about 'unsafe touches'.  The other part is I am actually enjoying buying clothes for the first time in a looooong time.  Enjoy it Dave!  I have one rule, I won't spend more that 10-15 on any one item and most of the stuff I buy is less than 10.  I am a Wal-Mart, K-Mart, and Thirft Store Junkie now!

This weekend I finally got what DH and DS had.  Fever of 102, shivering, body aches, everything.  I went to bed at 7:30 on Firday and didn't get out of bed until 5 pm on Sat.  ONly because DH made me get up and eat and drink something.  I feel better today but still have sinus problems.

This week should slow down and bit so I can rest!

Going to see the nut today.

Went up to Algonquin yesterday and got some BBQ as well as some time watching the Fox flow by. The BBQ joint is called Texan BBQ and the riblets and sausage are good but not Texan and the brisket is also good with sauce but Texas BBQ needs no sauce to be good. I think the differance is the fear of fat.  I need to watch for some sales on briskets and ribs as well as beef sausage and smoke my own now that we are getting some above sixty days.  My smoker will not accomadate a twenty pound brisket so I may need to get another smoker or cut a brisket in two.  If you trim a brisket before you smoke it you lose the flavor as the fat melts and drips through it.  I am hoping I will be able to tolerate that post op.  I am pretty sure even if I make my own sauce and use splenda the sugar from cooking down the tomatoes will be too much post op.  It is all in what you get used to I guess as far as BBQ and sausage.  There were two sausages I loved in Texas but cannot get here or afford to ship from Texas.

Randy, so you would say that the place you went to in Algonquin does not measure up to what you are used to in TX? Dave and I had always wondered about that place. It has been there for close to 25 years.

Hope your apt. goes well.

Other than Hecky's in Evanston I would say it is the best I have had up here. Not Texas BBQ though.  More like smoked roast beef than brisket and sliced way too thin.  I bought a pound and it is good with the sauce but too dry to have without it. I am spoiled though in that I was raised with plenty of great BBQ close by and cheap.  About this time of year you get whole briskets for 67 cents a pound in the supermarkets in Texas on sale and running a $1.25 to $1.50 a pound at regular prices.  My brother also was a world class BBQ competitor winning many of the local cookoffs and second or third in the World Cookoff at the Houston Rodeo.  I also had my own BBQ trailer but never opened it to the public deciding that was not a life for our daughter who was born the morning after we had our health inspection to open up for the public as Bulls-Eye BBQ before the sauce took on that name.  Sausage I like best BBQed is beef and spicier than what you get here which is either all pork or a mix. Hecky's hot links and pulled pork is great though.  If I can remeber correctly though you cannot by the links by the pound.  I bought a pound each of Texan's riblets, sausage and links and feel like I got my moneys worth.  The riblets already had sauce on them though and World Class Texas style BBQ be it chicken, ribs or brisket has to stand on it's own with no sauce.

Thanks for the info. I have had TX BBQ (in TX, Dallas area) only one time and remember it being a little thicker cut of meat and tender.

I love BBQ too but cant find a good place down here in Florida. When I go to Chicago I go to Smoques on Pulaski and something. My neice takes me there. Smoques was on the food channel with Guy Fueri in Dives Dinners and something else.

Good morning Dave and Illinois!

What a pleasant sunshining day we are having today! Took the puppy to the vet this morning for her preop bloodwork. She will be getting spayed on the 26th. Still trying to get her potty trained. 2 accidents in seven days. She isn't doing too badly. Took a nice long walk yesterday.

Dave- Have you tried the resale shops for new clothes? You can get some great bargains there. You can have a big wardrobe and not spend a lot of money. This winter I bought most of my clothes thru a couple of resale shops. It's great because you're changing sizes so quickly.

Hope everyone has a great day!
Carol
